Manhattan Mandarin Summer 2021
Private Tutoring
The entire team at Manhattan Mandarin is ready to work with you and your family this summer. For now, most summer lessons will be conducted online, however, we will have some in person tutoring available. Please reach out to Jamie or Michelle to confirm.
After School Mandarin
We love running our After School programs! Each week we bring the language and culture of China to over 100 students at more than two dozen of the best private and public schools in NYC, DC, Boston, Miami, New Jersey, Pittsburgh, and Omaha.
Our After School classes are typically for students in K-6, often broken down into K, 1-3, and 4-6; however, please be sure to contact the After School Director at your child's school as programs do vary.

Summer Mandarin

Our online group class series has been created to bring you all of Manhattan Mandarin during the lockdown. Our amazing teachers have been hard at work creating these classes and we're so thankful for their dedication. We hope we can offer a bit of language fun and creativity during this difficult time.

Lower School Classes
6-9 years old

Intro to Mandarin
4:00-5:00pm
10 classes $200 (or 1 session for $100)
Our Intro to Mandarin class is for absolute new comers to learning Mandarin. Students will come home singing songs and showing off their new language skills!
The class will follow QTalk - an amazing resource for our youngest learners. Students should expect to learn 40-80 new words.
Thursdays July 1 - July 29 & August 5 - September 3rd
Heritage Mandarin
4:00-5:00pm
10 classes $200 (or 1 session for $100)
Our heritage class is conducted in 100% Mandarin. This class is designed to get those students who speak at home or at school to hone in on perfecting their grammar, story telling, and formal writing abilities.
The class will follow the Shuang Shuang textbook series and students should expect to learn 150-200 new words.

Beginner Mandarin

Students from our spring beginner class will continue in their usual time slot and new friends who place in are welcome!
Each week, our teachers will build continue to build on the foundations set in the fall in a fun and interactive way.
Students should expect to learn between 100-150 new words this winter. We will continue to use QTalk - an amazing curriculum for our younger learners!

Intermediate Mandarin

Students from our spring intermediate class will continue in their usual time slot and new friends who place in are welcome!
Intermediate students get an early start on preparing for high school Mandarin. We've built this program to set you on the path towards a successful high school Mandarin career!
Students should expect to learn between 150-200 new words this winter. We will follow the Chinese Made Easy for kids textbook along with custom materials and aim to get to unit 8 in book 2.
Middle School Mandarin

Absolute beginners and students who have just started learning are all welcome to join us in Beginner Mandarin. Each week, our teachers will build up the foundations of the language in a fun and interactive way.
The class will follow the Integrated Chinese series and students should expect to learn between 250-300 new words and finish through lesson 6 (a fast pace than most high school classes).
The class is also a great supplement for students enrolled in a Mandarin 1 class in school.
Wednesdays June 30 - July 28 & August 4 - September 2
Mandarin 2
7:00-8:00pm
10 classes $300 (or 1 session for $150)
The class will follow the Integrated Chinese series and students should expect to learn between 250-300 new words and finish through lesson 12 (a fast pace than most high school classes).
This class is perfect for students studying on their own or as a supplement for an in school Mandarin 2 class.

Mandarin 3

You've made it this far and need a bridge to AP level Mandarin and more confidence speaking. This course is designed to get our students through chapter 16 of Integrated Chinese with a focus on speaking. We will use Chinesepod as a supplement.
This is a critical stage of your journey to fluency. Once you've cleared this hurdle you are on to the 'movie watching' stage of learning!

Our business program is based off of the textbook series 'Road to Success'. This is an advanced Mandarin course studying 10 cases of companies entering the Chinese market. The class is conducted 90% in the target language and will infuse business and cultural lessons into the course.
